Kauai High class of '72 Reunions

Official Reunion Website

Welcome!

Another reunion has come and gone. Another great time to share not just memories, but the sharing of our lifetimes with our special friends. Now we've returned to our homes and lives, but warm feelings remain of the camaraderie, the laughter, the music, the Aloha that was present. Though we may be thousands of miles apart we are all Ohana - we are bonded by our common experiences.

Update!

60th Birthday Reunion in NYC! - June 27 - 29, 2014

The weekend was a blast! Here are the following in attendance: Jack Balauro, Carolyn Ota ('75 now lives in NYC), Jane Segawa Iwane and Roy, Jerrilyn Onishi Fukushima and husband Dennis from Lihue, Voss Fernandes, Mark Hirabayshi and Lynne, Tara Taylor and Nancy Lapp, Terry Wilmoth Crnich and Joe (14 of us all together). It was a very nice group.

We started off with dinner at the Dallas BBQ on West 23rd Street across from the Leo House where most of us were staying. You should have seen the ribs Jack and Carolyn ate! WOW! The next day we had breakfast at the Leo followed by a double-decker bus tour of the city: Times Square, Macy's, Empire State Building, Ground Zero, New World Trade Tower, Battery Park to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in the harbor, South Port Piers, East Village, Chinatown, Little Italy, the United Nations Building, uptown, Broadway, Rockefeller Center followed by a late lunch.

Voss, Mark, Jack and Carolyn Ota then played music for us in the Leo House courtyard. There were several calls made to the front desk inquiring about the lovely music that was being played. Even the nuns from the residence hall next door were coming down to enjoy the music into the night. In memory of all of classmates who have died, we sang "I'll Remember You" written by the late Kui Lee and made famous by the late Don Ho who by the way sang "Tiny Bubbles." We then had a late dinner at Chelsea Chinese (Schezuan) Kitchen on West 25th Street. The food was scrumptiously delicious, but most of all the company was the best.

Afterwards we went to the Chelsea Bakery to pick up treats and hung out in the Conference Room at the Leo House way past midnight [where Wes entertained us with his escapades as a young adult]. We all got up for breakfast at the Chelsea Country Kitchen on 9th Ave and West 23rd. Some of us were leaving and said our goodbyes. Those who stayed went to the parade or went shopping.

Me ke Aloha, Wes

Mahalo to Rick Rasay and Garden Island Blend for the tunes at the 40th Reunion!

Garden Island Blend is a group of local boys from Kaua'i and Oah'u who transplanted to California. They bring Hawaiian-style local kine music and crossover to oldies, classic, Top 40 and contemporary songs.
